World Languages Update

Good afternoon world language professionals,

 

Below are some updates that I wanted to be sure to share with you.  As always, thank you for all you do!

  • The Georgia Department of Education World Languages, in collaboration with Berry College, is pleased to offer the 1st annual Northwest Georgia World Language Expo on the beautiful campus of Berry College on Saturday, Feb 9th from 9am - 2pm! Registration is free and can be accomplished via this link.

 

  • Congratulations to Ms. Grethel Van Epps from the International Charter School, who is the November World Language Teacher of the Month.  If you would like to nominate a teacher to be recognized, you can do so via this link.

 

  • A reminder, if your school does not offer the International Skills Diploma Seal, the deadline for your school to offer this one of a kind recognition of a student's internationally focused education is December 15thYou can find out a lot of information via our website here.  There you can download the application form as well.  If you have any questions, please reach out to me.  Last year, nearly a 1,000 Georgia Students received this recognition and currently the program is in place in nearly 100 High Schools across the state.

 

  • The 2nd annual statewide world Language Job Fair will be held on Saturday, Feb 23rd at North Atlanta High School from 9am - 12pm! Georgia is the only state that does a statewide world language specific job fair! Please share with your friends or anyone you might know who is interested in getting engaged in the profession.  We hope to offer certification information sessions from the Georgia Professional Standards Commission for those who need guidance in the pathways available to them.
